Meet Our Volunteer

Dr. Teresa Sprague

Teresa Sprague joined the Pacific Institute as a Communications Intern in October 2017. Since then, she has helped analyze the organization’s social media, assisted with outreach and audience engagement, and currently supports the Pacific Institute as a volunteer, assisting with research and promotion of international and US-based water-related content for social media.

As an EU Marie Curie Fellow in Dortmund, Germany, Teresa earned a Ph.D. in Water Risk Governance focusing on water extremes. She earned her master’s degree at the University of Oxford in water science, policy, and management. Teresa has worked extensively throughout Europe as well as in China, and currently works in California as a water resources planner and consultant in San Francisco.

Teresa has recently published a book, Building Resilience and Planning for Extreme Water-Related Events, and continues her research and project work on water resources management and urban resilience. She says her goal is to “advance the development of resilient planning in California and to expand this development through exchanges with international practices.”

Outside of work, Teresa can be found running along the San Francisco coastline and encouraging friends to join in for a night of karaoke.
