Sumbul joined the Pacific Institute in 2022 as Manager, Impact Communications and Multimedia Content. She drives the Pacific Institute’s impact communications focus by combining compelling qualitative storytelling with quantitative data to highlight Pacific Institute’s real-world outcomes and impacts as well as leads the multimedia content strategy to enhance the organization’s leadership. As part of the CEO Water Mandate, she also supports the uptake and scaling of public sector and private sector programmatic work.
Sumbul comes to the Pacific Institute from a Norwegian sustainability consulting firm, where she served as Marketing and Communications Manager. In this role, she crafted & implemented end-to-end communications strategies for clients such as Shell, Unilever, Baker Hughes, Tata Group & Ingka Group. Prior to this, Sumbul worked as a Senior Associate with an organization that worked directly with UN Women, USAID, the World Bank Group, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in the Agriculture & Water focus areas. She also served part-time as Communications Officer for International Growth Centre (IGC) at the London School of Economics.
Sumbul holds a Masters degree in Development Communications and has served as a volunteer in a sustainability communications capacity for organizations including ActionAid, Greenpeace, and Oxfam in India. In her free time, Sumbul enjoys exploring new places, especially hiking trails, whether alone or with friends.
