Dr. Bruk Berhanu joined the Pacific Institute in 2023 as a Senior Researcher. He works on assessments of water efficiency and reuse feasibility and potential.
Prior to joining the Pacific Institute, Bruk worked in the municipal water/wastewater utility industry where he worked on long-range water and wastewater infrastructure planning, short- and long-range water demand forecasting, and water reuse feasibility assessment at multiple spatial scales.
Bruk received a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and a dual-M.S./M.P.Aff. in Environmental & Water Resources Engineering and Public Affairs and Ph.D in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. His doctoral research focused on feasibility assessment and integration of decentralized water supply strategies (e.g. rainwater harvesting, graywater recycling, etc.) into municipal water supply and water/wastewater infrastructure planning and management.
