Dr. Ashok Chapagain joined the Pacific Institute in 2020 as a Senior Researcher. His research focuses on water accounting and resilience. Prior to joining the Pacific Institute, Ashok taught water resource management at the University of the Free State. Previously, he worked on water risk, water stewardship, water accounting, and environmental impact assessments for a variety of NGOs. His 30-year career in water resources management has included work on integrated water resources management, water footprint assessments, industrial and agricultural efficiency and sustainability, irrigation, hydrology and watershed modeling, flood risk management, and river basin planning and management. Ashok holds a PhD in Water Resources Management and Policy Analysis, an M.Sc. in Water and Environmental Resources Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee.
