Pacific Institute 2023 Impact Report: Catalyzing Global Action for Water Resilience
Overview
In 2023, the Pacific Institute has once again proven to be at the forefront of addressing the world’s most pressing water issues with innovative and science-based solutions. Amid evolving environmental and geopolitical challenges, including record-breaking climate events and increasing water-related conflicts, our mission to catalyze water resilience has never been more crucial.Â
This year’s highlights include pivotal research publications and enhanced tools like the Water Conflict Chronology, enriched with 350 new entries for global insights into water conflicts. We’ve also made significant progress in vital areas such as the Colorado River Basin and the Salton Sea, mobilizing over $140 million in water investments through our Water Resilience Coalition.Â
Our global impact was further demonstrated through our leadership and active participation in major international forums, including the UN Water Conference, the World Economic Forum annual meeting, United Nations General Assembly, One Water Summit, and COP28. Additionally, our CEO Water Mandate has seen a substantial increase in corporate engagement, with over 240 companies committing to water stewardship.Â
