Implementing Net Positive Water Impact

Overview

The CEO Water Mandate has created a comprehensive set of tools to help you implement NPWI as a part of your strategy.

What is NPWI?
Net Positive Water Impact is an initiative for companies to ensure their water contributions exceed their impacts in water-stressed regions. It addresses water availability, quality, and accessibility through site-specific impacts, company footprint, and basin-level collective action, aligning with other water stewardship approaches and supporting #SDG6.

Why NPWI?
NPWI improves basin health and resilience, provides business value through sustainable products, enhances societal value by improving water access, and reduces company risks related to water. It also boosts water and climate resilience and energy security.

How is NPWI implemented?
NPWI involves five steps: building awareness, assessment, action, and measuring progress. It focuses on reducing water withdrawal, improving water quality, and enhancing access to WASH services, with progress tracked and validated.

NPWI Alignment and Guidance
The guidance includes various documents and an online tracking tool, allowing companies to tailor their NPWI journey to their specific contexts.
