On Friday, March 23, Pacific Institute Senior Research Associate Laura Feinstein will join a panel discussing water affordability at the 27th annual California Water Policy Conference, which will be held March 22-23 at the UC Davis Conference Center in Davis, California. Douglas Wallace of the East Bay Municipal District will moderate the four-person panel, entitled “Water Affordability and the Deepening Divide.”
A 2015 law (AB 401) requiring the California State Water Resources Control Board to develop a plan to assist low-income households with the state’s rising water rates has been postponed. Meanwhile, the California Senate has debated a bill (SB 623) to assist communities struggling to access safe and adequate drinking water. The panel’s guided conversation will cover questions related to the scope of water affordability issues in California, potential sources of funding for AB 401 and SB 623, and the politics of various funding sources.
The panel will take place from 9:45 to 11:15 AM on March 23 at the UC Davis Conference Center, located at 550 Alumni Lane, Davis, California 95616.
