From Monday November 26th through Wednesday November 28th, Pacific Institute President Jason Morrison, Senior Researcher Tien Shiao, and Research Associate Giuliana Chaves Moreira will attend Rio Water Week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event is sponsored by the Brazilian Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (ABES), and will bring together professionals and companies from Brazil and beyond, as well academics, experts, and international organizations to discuss water in its broader conception, addressing challenges, public policies, and the existing solutions and technologies in Brazil and around the world, focusing on the UN Sustainable Development Goal 6.
The Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), and the Global Compact Network Brazil (GCNB) are organizing a side event titled “Water and Business,” which will be held on November 27th from 9:45 AM to 6:00 PM. Mr. Morrison will serve as a speaker in the plenary titled “The Business View on Water Security and Sanitation.” Ms. Moreira will serve as a moderator on a panel titled “The Private Sector as Part of the Solution.” Ms. Shiao will serve as a moderator on a panel on sanitation titled “Private Sector’s Contributions to the Universalization of Sanitation: Challenges and Opportunities.” The event will take place around the Regional Chemistry Council facilities at Rua Oscar Freire, 2039, in Pinheiros.
