On October 5 in Oakland, the Pacific Institute staff and friends will celebrate 30 years of impact on the world’s most critical water issues. President Jason Morrison and California State Water Resources Control Board Chair Felicia Marcus will explore opportunities and strategies for sustainable water, with the conversation guided by Joel Makower of Greenbiz. President Emeritus Peter Gleick will offer a retrospective on three decades of Pacific Institute accomplishments.

Water Stewardship Toolbox Expanded
The CEO Water Mandate, of which the Pacific Institute is co-secretariat, has launched a revamped version of its website and Water Stewardship Toolbox. The new toolbox features more than 160 resources, including guidance, best practices, reports, tools, and more aimed to help companies advance water stewardship in their supply chains.

Senior Research Associate

Laura is interested in questions of tradeoffs, quantitative data analysis, and translating science into policy. “It’s the quick feedback between research and action that keeps me motivated,” she says. “When I write a report, I know people will read it and use it.”

Salton Sea 10-Year Management Plan 
Future Outreach 

On October 4, Senior Research Associate Michael Cohen will participate in a Salton Sea “All Committees Meeting” in Coachella, California. Participants will review and provide feedback to the state on the work plan for the 10-Year Management Plan for the Salton Sea, as well as review a refined committee structure and work plan for 2018.

The Future of Water
Future Outreach 

Increasingly, we are seeing the impacts of growing pressure on water resources around the world from population and economic growth, climate change, pollution, and other challenges. On September 26, President Emeritus Peter Gleick will discuss the future of water as part of the Taplin Environmental Lecture series at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey.

Climate Change and Water in California
Past Outreach 

On August 29, Water Program Director Heather Cooley presented on “Climate Change and Water in California” at the Climate Corps fellowship program orientation. Climate Corps is a fellowship program that places emerging environmental professionals with California nonprofits, governments, and for-profit organizations for a dedicated 10-months of service.
