Celebrating 30 Years of Accomplishments  

On October 5 in Oakland, Pacific Institute staff and friends celebrated the Institute’s 30th anniversary. During the celebration, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf presented President Jason Morrison with a proclamation thanking the Institute for three decades of work on global water issues, highlighting in particular projects to empower Oakland’s most vulnerable residents.

Launch of Water Stewardship-Focused Twitter Account

This past month, the Pacific Institute launched its @H2O_stewardship Twitter account to highlight its corporate water stewardship work. The new account features updates on innovative business practices, highlighting projects of the Pacific Institute, the CEO Water Mandate — for which the Institute is Co-Secretariat — and a wide range of other stewardship-focused organizations around the world.

Environmental and Human Health Amidst Climate Change and Global Urbanization
Future Outreach 

On October 17, President Emeritus Peter Gleick will participate in a panel discussion at the University of North Carolina’s Water and Health Conference in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The discussion will focus on the linkages between environmental health and human health in the context of climate change and global urbanization, exploring what can be done to strengthen and build global communities’ water and sanitation systems to achieve UN Sustainable Development Goals 6.1 and 6.2.

Exploring Corporate Water Stewardship During the United Nations General Assembly 
Past Outreach

At the United Nations Global Compact Leaders Summit on September 21 in New York, the Pacific Institute, in its role as Co-Secretariat of the CEO Water Mandate, participated in several water-focused events, including a session on a new water-focused Action Platform to be launched in January 2018. 

The CEO Water Mandate is a platform mobilizing business leaders to advance water stewardship, sanitation, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

World Water Week in Stockholm
Past Outreach 

From August 27 to September 1, Pacific Institute staff, including President Jason Morrison, traveled to Stockholm for World Water Week, an annual event focused on global water issues. As Co-Secretariat of the CEO Water Mandate, Pacific Institute staff participated in a range of events focused on corporate water stewardship.
