Salton Sea Update

In a recent

article, Senior Research Associate Michael Cohen explained that while state and federal officials have made progress on the Salton Sea this past year, a larger vision and clear plan are needed going forward.

Informing California Water Management Policy 
Our staff continues to engage with state agencies and organizations to develop water management policy. Senior Research Associate Laura Feinstein is collaborating with a coalition of groups to provide input to the California State Water Resources Control Board on a proposed low-income water rate assistance plan and improved drought resilience for small and rural systems.
Meet Our Staff: Robert Jensen
Full Stack Developer and IT Specialist

Robert is a third generation tech; his father was a computer engineer in the 1960s and his grandfather worked on IBM’s first mainframe computer. Robert has a diverse technical background, “from network architecture for large-scale facial recognition deployments to restoring vintage motorcycles with modernized technology,” he says. Robert was drawn to the Pacific Institute for its data-driven research on water issues.

California Water Stewardship Leaders’ Summit
Past Outreach

This week, the Pacific Institute, as secretariat of the
CEO Water Mandate,
held the California Water Stewardship Leaders’ Summit in Sacramento, California along with the California Water Action Collaborative (CWAC). The conference brought together leaders from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to develop a vision for water stewardship in California, plan actions that advance the goals of the California Water Action Plan, and explore opportunities for transformative change.

CEO Water Mandate Launched in Brazil

Past Outreach

On November 9, Senior Research Associate Mai-Lan Ha launched the
CEO Water Mandate in Brazil as part of the UN Global Compact Forum 2016 in São Paulo. She highlighted the importance of good water stewardship practices towards reaching the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Brazil.
