Pacific Institute staff, including President Jason Morrison, will travel to Stockholm next week for World Water Week, an annual event focused on global water issues.

New Release: Corporate Engagement on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene
Globally, 1.5 billion people work in supply chains, and of those, up to 1.35 billion are employed in small and medium-sized enterprises, or on farms in developing countries, where the water and sanitation crisis is the most acute. A new report by the CEO Water Mandate (a project of the UN Global Compact and the Pacific Institute), WaterAid, WBCSD, and Water Witness International offers steps for companies to take to help end the global water and sanitation crisis.

The Future of Water, Food, and Energy 
Future Outreach 

On September 5, President Emeritus Peter Gleick will speak about the future of water at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s meeting “Grand Challenges in Environmental Engineering and Science” at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. Other experts will discuss the future of global food and energy amid climate change and a rapidly expanding global population.

How States Can Cooperate for Sustainable Water 
Past Outreach 

On August 8, Peter Gleick discussed water resource management and interstate water conflicts at the National Conference of State Legislatures Legislative Summit in Boston. He shared insights for innovative solutions for state policymakers, and stressed that states must consider each other’s needs to ensure sufficient supply for all users.
