Swati Prakash
Program Director
Swati Prakash is the Director of the Pacific Institute’s Community Strategies for Sustainability and Justice program. She brings a passion for leadership development and developing innovative models of incorporating community health needs into city planning and land use decisions.
Prior to her arrival at the Institute, she served as the Environmental Health Director at West Harlem Environmental Action (WE ACT), a community-based environmental justice organization in New York City, where she worked to merge scientific tools and community organizing efforts in low-income urban communities of color. She received an M.S. in Environmental Health from the Harvard School of Public Health, and an A.B. in Environmental Science and Public Policy from Harvard University. Ms. Prakash is a fellow in the national Environmental Leadership Program and has authored numerous articles that have appeared in peer-reviewed scientific journals and popular and advocacy media.
